Tell us about your role at Virgin Atlantic Cargo…

I am the Cargo Operations Manager in Orlando, Florida. My role has several layers to it, I work alongside our internal and external stakeholders to ensure our cargo operation runs smoothly. My main focus is on security and compliance to ensure our customers’ cargo travels through our network effortlessly. I coordinate and plan the operations activities with our ground handling to provide our customers with the best service experience.

What led you to the cargo industry? And what is it about the industry you enjoy the most?

I have just celebrated my 22 year anniversary with Virgin Atlantic. Back in March 2000, being 20 years old, I wanted a job that would enable me to travel the world and pursue my carrier in the Tourism Industry. I was so excited to see an opportunity became available at Atlantic Cargo in Orlando for an import and export agent and when I found out that travel benefits was part of the offer, I jumped on it right away. It was a new world that I never knew existed. It piqued my interest, so I joined.

The thing I love the most in this industry is that it never gets boring. Every day we have new experiences and challenges that I am eager to face and conquer for our company and our customers.

What do you value most about working for Virgin Atlantic Cargo?

What I value the most at Virgin Atlantic Cargo is the lifelong friendships I have made with colleagues and customers, all over the world. They are an amazing group of people.

Tell us about some women who have, or continue to, inspire you in your career or your everyday life…

My mother is my number one inspiration in my career. I was born into a family of Travel Agents. My parents owned their own travel agency, and I had the opportunity to work with them from a very young age. My mother has the most amazing work ethic and qualities, and I can say I was very blessed to learn these traits from her – they have truly helped me to achieve so much success over the last 22 years with Virgin Cargo.

Another woman who has inspired me through the years is the Passenger Services Manager for Virgin Atlantic Airways in Orlando, Florida. I had the opportunity to work for her from 2004 until 2005 as a passenger services agent. During this time I got to see how much she reminds me of my mother professionally. I am always amazed at the knowledge and insight she has and I always find myself learning from her as we work alongside until today.

What would you say to a female who’s thinking about a career in the logistics industry?

The opportunities are endless, and this career is very exciting no matter which department you decide to enter into.
