Tell us about your role at Virgin Atlantic Cargo…

I might be biased but I truly believe I have one of the best jobs at Virgin Atlantic Cargo! As an Account Manager within our UK Sales Team, I am tasked with supporting and managing the performance of a portfolio of customers, made up of freight forwarders from across the UK. It’s my job to build increased preference for Virgin Atlantic Cargo and turn that preference into great results for our team.

What led you to the cargo industry? And what is it about the industry you enjoy the most?

Before the pandemic I held a similar role within our UK Sales Team on the passenger side of the airline. As the pandemic hit and international travel was effectively suspended, I was incredibly fortunate to find a new opportunity within our Cargo Sales Team. At that time, 4 months into the pandemic, our Cargo Team were already achieving record breaking results and working at a phenomenal pace. It is that pace that I enjoy the most, and the fact that it sometimes seems that no two days are the same.

"We have an extremely strong team culture here and I think that we thrive because of this, especially through the seemingly endless challenges that the pandemic has presented us with."

What do you value most about working for Virgin Atlantic Cargo?

Without a doubt it’s our people that make the real difference. We have an extremely strong team culture here and I think that we thrive because of this, especially through the seemingly endless challenges that the pandemic has presented us with. It truly feels like we are one big family, everyone knows everyone, and we are all absolutely clear on the role we each play in achieving success.

Tell us about some women who have, or continue to, inspire you in your career or your everyday life…

I have to say that my Mum has been and continues to be my biggest inspiration. She is the most passionate and hard-working person I know, always selflessly striving for what is best for our family. One of the most important lessons she has taught me is that hard work pays off, and that no matter how tough a situation is, it is made so much easier with the support of those around you.

What would you say to a female who’s thinking about a career in the logistics industry?

If you enjoy a varied, challenging, and fast paced environment then this is the industry for you!
